Abstract: Due to the unique habitats and metabolic pathways, marine microorganisms can produce diverse metabolites with remarkable biological activities, such as antitumor, antibacterial, antivirus, immune regulation, and so on.These active substances are expected to be lead compounds. So,marine microorganisms are the important sources of new active compounds and attract more and more attention in the field of new drug development. However, the yield of active products from microbial sources is generally low.In order to improve the yield, fermentation conditions need to be optimized, which provides basis for further research and development. In this paper, the active substances derived from marine microorganisms and the optimization of fermentation conditions were reviewed depending on the chemical classification. This provides the corresponding reference for the exploitation and utilization of other marine microbial resources.

Key words: marine microorganism, active metabolites, optimization of fermentation conditions
