Abstract: To investigate the extraction of Caenorhabditis elegans and its effect on curing animals with allergic asthma. The crude extract of C. elegans (CEC) was obtained through centrifugation,washing,phacoemulsification and endotoxin removal. Sensitizing BALB/c mice with ovalbumin (OVA) was used to develop the animal model of asthma. Animals with asthma were treated with a mixture of CEC and OVA (CE). Buffer solution (PBS) group and OVA group were set as control groups. The serum levels of IgE,IgG1 and IgG2a were measured with commercial ELISA kits,and the quantity of cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were counted. Lung tissues were removed to observe its histopathology. The results showed that the differences in the serum levels of IgE,IgG1 and IgG2a of CE group and OVA group were statistically significant (P<0.05). The differences in the quantity of total cells,eosinophils and macrophages in BALF were statistically significant (P<0.05). It showed that CEC have therapeutic effect on animals with allergic asthma.
