One New Triterpenoid Saponin from Polygala crotalarioides

Abstract: Three oleanane-type saponins were isolated from the roots of Polygala crotalarioides. Their structures were elucidated as 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl presenegenin 28-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→4)-[β-D-apiofuranosy-(1→3)]-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)]-[4-O-(E/Z)-3″,4″,5″-trimethoxycinnamoyl]-β-D-fucopyranoside (1), 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl presenegenin 28-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→3)]-[4-O-(E/Z)-p-methoxycinnamoyl]-β-D-fucopyrannside (2) and 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl presenegenin 28-O-α-L-arabinopyranosy-(1→4)-β-D-xylopyranosy-(1→4)-[β-D-apiofuranosy-(1→3)]-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[4-O-(E/Z)-p-methoxycinnamoyl]-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→3)]-β-D-fucopyranoside (3),respectively,on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidence.Among them,compound 1 was a new compound,compounds 2 and 3 were isolated from this plant for the first time.
