Abstract: Five compounds were isolated and purified from the fresh fruits of Pranus cerasifera Ehrh f.by column chromatography on silica gel,ODS and Sephadex LH20.Their structures were elucidated by IR,UV, 1H NMR, 13C NMR,HMBC,HSQC spectral analyses. They were identified as 3-O-acetyl-protocatechuic acid (1),2(R)hydroxybutanedioic acid-1-methyl ester (2),3,3′,4,4′-Tetrahydroxybiphenyl (3),β-daucosterol (4) and Quercetin (5).Compounds 1-4 were isolated from this species for the first time and 1 was a new natural product. The 1H and 13C NMR data of compound 1 were reported as well. All the isolated compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antioxidant activities using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assays.Compounds 3 and 5 showed potential antioxidant activities.

Key words: Pranus cerasifera, chemical constituents, 3-O-acetyl-protocatechuic acid, antioxidant activity
