Abstract: The paper mainly discussed about the antagonistic effect of different doses (0.3,0.6,1.0 g/kg) of Gelidium amansii alcohol extract against hyperuricemia in mouse. The acute hyperuricemia of mouse model was made by oxonic acid potassium salt. The levels of uric acid (UA),creatinine (Cr),blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in mouse serum, the liver homogenization buffer of xanthine oxidase (XOD) activity, adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity and the histopathological changes of HE staining were measured. The results showed that, compared to the blank group, the model group significantly elevated the levels of UA,Cr,BUN (P<0.01) and the activity of XOD (P<0.01),ADA (P<0.05).In addition, the structure of renal corpuscle and renal tubule were damaged.Compared to the model group, the drug therapy group significantly reduced the levels of UA,Cr,BUN (P<0.01) and the activity of XOD (P<0.01).However,the activity of ADA had no statistical differences. To some degree, the drug therapy group can recover the structure of renal corpuscle and renal tubule induced by hyperuricemia. In general, the hyperuricemia in mouse was eliminated by G.amansii alcohol extract, which was related with the inhibition of uricogenesis and promotion of the uric acid excretion.
