Abstract: To study the chemical constituents of Swertia nervosa. The constituents were separated and purified by column chromatography with silica gel.Their structures were identified on the basis of spectral analysis such as UV,IR,MS, ¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR.Ten compounds were isolated and identified as 1,5,8-trihydroxy- 3- methoxyxa- nthone (1),1,3,8-trihydroxy-5-methoxyxanthone (2),5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavone (3),3,5,7,3′,4′- pentahydroxy flavone (4),2-C-β-Dglucopyranosyl-1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxyxanthone (5),swertamarin (6),amarogentin (7),amaroswerin (8),oleanolic acid (9) and daucosterol (10).compound 35,7,8 and 10 were isolated from S.nervosa for the first time.
