Abstract: The bioactivity and antibacterial activity of ethanol extract from Ficus vasculosa leaves were tested by reagent impregnation method and spread-plate method, respectively. The results showed that, ethanol extract of F.vasculosa possessed bioactivity against Aphis fabae, Culex quinquefasciatus and Pomacea canaliculata, but exhibited no antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae and Staphyloccocus aureus. The ethanol extract of F.vasculosa leaves were preliminarily partitioned using liquid-liquid isolation method,to give petroleum ether fraction,EtOAc fraction and H2O fraction, respectively. The further bioassays results suggested that the active constituents of F.vasculosa leaves existed in petroleum ether fraction and EtOAc fraction. One active compound was isolated from the EtOAc fraction through further phytochemical investigation, its structure was identified as betulin by 1H NMR and 13C NMR.Betulin exhibited potential insecticidal activity against the 3rd instar larvae of C.quinquefasciatus, with LC50 value of 16.44 mg/L after treatment in 24 h.
