Abstract: In this study,a taxol-producing endophyitc fungus N-15 was isolated from the inner barks of Taxus chinensis var.mairei.The results of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis showed that the extracts of N-15 produced same chromatographic peaks and retention time as authentic taxol,Baccatin III and 10-deacetylbaccatin III (10-DAB),suggesting that the fungus N-15 can produce taxol,Baccatin III and 10-DAB.The results of mass spectrometry (MS) analysis showed that the fungal extracts of N-15 had the same mass peaks as authentic taxol, which further indicated that N-15 can produce taxol. The fungus N-15 was preliminarily identified to belong to Nigrospora sp. based on its morphology and conserved sequence of 18S rRNA.
