Abstract: The contents of total saponins, mogroside V and selenium in fruits were separately compared with the same variety of Siraitia grosvenorii with the same harvesting period from different areas.Understanding the correlation between quality characteristics and origin of Siraitia grosvenorii, guiding the production planning of planting areas scientifically, and clarifying the quality characteristics and development of Siraitia grosvenorii in different areas are directly related to the quality and development of Siraitia grosvenorii intensive processing industry. The total saponin content of each Siraitia grosvenorii fruit sample was measured by vanillin-concentrated sulfuric acid reagent combined with spectrophotometric colorimetric method. The content of mogroside V was measured by high performance liquid chromatography, and the content of selenium was measured by hydride atomic fluorescence spectrometry. Then, analysis of variance and multiple comparisons with Duncan test for each parameter were conducted. It showed that, the content of total saponins, glucoside V and selenium were 2.42% to 3.34%,0.68% to 1.41%,5.634-41.462 μg/kg,respectively;there was no significant difference in the total saponins content between the samples from different origins, but there were significant differences in the content of sweet glucoside V and selenium;the content of total saponins, mogroside V,total saponins and selenium in Siraitia grosvenorii from Guangxi and Hunan to Sichuan met the requirements of pharmacopoeia of P.R.China.Therefore,Siraitia grosvenorii has wider planting areas, yet the content of mogroside V from different areas was different, significantly, which implied that the conversion efficiency of the fruit mogroside V or maturity of the fruitswere different, and the harvest period should be appropriately adjusted according to the planting region and the corresponding annual climatic conditions to meet the needs of different processing and utilization.
