Abstract: The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and twodimension IR correlation infrared spectroscopy (2DIR) were used for the identification of Yege and Fenge and their aqueous extract. The FTIR spectra method and 2DIR correlation spectra method. In the IR spectra of the two samples, some characteristic peaks of puerarin are shown in Yege(1628,1515,1445 cm1),while in Fenge there is no obvious corresponding peaks can be observed and the characteristic peaks of starch can be observed obviously. In the secondary derivative infrared spectra(SDIR),two typical peaks of puerarin around 1633 cm1 and 1517cm1 appear in Fenge with higher resolution, which indicated that the Fenge contains small amounts of puerarin. In the IR spectra of aqueous extract of the two,the peaks at 1626,1515,1445,1078,1028,889,837 and 795 cm1 of Yege indicate the existence of flavonoids and glycosides, however Fenge are much more likely to starch (1156,1079,1018,993,861,764,708 and 575 cm1),suggesting the Fenge contain more energy substance and smaller active ingredients than Yege. The different results of the two samples in 2DIR spectra show that their sensitivity to temperature are different, which further proved that the types of chemical ingredients contained in Yege and Fenge are different. With implementing the FTIR spectra method and 2DIR correlation spectra method,a lot of information of Yege and Fenge can be provided, and we can analyze and distinguish Yege and Fenge preliminarily. This method could be proposed to identify and control traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),to make a good foundation for the further research.
