Abstract:

Honggumycin is a kind of new antibiotic. Using Staphalococcus aureus as the experimental bacterial, the antibacterial mechanism of Honggumycin was investigated. The experimental bacterial was treated with Honggumycin at the concentration of EC50 and EC90, with no Honggumycin as blank control. And the EPS, plasmalemma transparence, and biomolecular (DNA, RNA, and protein) were determined. The results showed that the antibacterial activity of Honggumycin to S. aureus was presented in inhibiting the synthesis of nuclei acid. The synthesis of protein and other biomolecular were restrained due to the inhibition of nuclei acid synthesis, and the plasmalemma permeability was changed. Electron microscope photograph showed the protoplast of S. aureus had become thin after treating with Honggumycin.
