Abstract: Analyzing the content change of hydrophilic constituents and it’s geographical distribution in Salvia miltiorrhira from different producing area around china. Determining content of hydrophilic constituents in S. miltiorrhira from different producing area by HPLC and using SAS to analyze correlation about hydrophilic constituents in S. miltiorrhira and it’s geogrofic distribution. Regression analysis shows that content of Danshensu and salvianolic acid A present negative correlation, protocatechuic aldehyde and rosemarinic acid present negative correlation, caffeic acid and Danshensu present negative correlation, salvianolic acid B and salvianolic acid A and Danshensu showing positive correlation. Cluster Analysis shows that three wild medicinal herbs and the cultivated species in most producing area of Shandong and Hebei province and Zhongjiang in Sichuan are one kind. Their content of hydrophilic constituents are high. We suggested that Danshensu should greater than or equal to 0.14%, protocatechuic aldehyde should greater than or equal to 0.01%, caffeic acid should greater than or equal to 0.01%, rosemarinic acid should greater than or equal to 0.17%, salvianolic acid B should greater than or equal to 3.0%, and salvianolic acid A should greater than or equal to 0.01%.There are differences in hydrophilic constituents in S. miltiorrhira between different producting areas, especially higher in traditional and original location.
