Novel Secondary Metabolites with Cytotoxic Activities Produced by Verrucosispora sp. FIM06031 from Marine Sponge

Abstract

Abstract: Three compounds (1-3) were isolated from culture broth of Verrucosispora sp. FIM06031 from marine sponge by silica gel, sephadex LH-20 and C18 reversed phase column chromatography. On the basis of spectral data, they were identified as a novel sesquiterpenoid harrucomicin C (1), cyperusol C (2), and N_b-acetyltryptamine (3). Compound 1 showed prominent growth inhibitory activity against the tumor cell lines HepG2, EC109 and HeLa with IC₅₀ values of 16.99 μM, 25.33 μM and 34.64 μM, respectivity in vitro by MTT assay, while 2 showed growth inhibitory activity against HeLa and HepG2 cells with IC₅₀ values of 149.99 μM and 167.78 μM, respectively.
