Abstract: The phenanthroindolizidine alkaloids are a family of plant-derived small molecules with significant antitumor activity. This review mainly focused on the structureactivity relationship and the asymmetric synthesis for providing the reference to exploit the phenanthroindolizidine derivatives with high activity against cancer cells.

Key words: phenanthroindolizidine, alkaloids, structure-activity relationship, asymmetric synthesis
