Abstract: Pinellia agglutinins are a group of glycoproteins that can specially bind to mannose. This gene family contained two conservative B-lectin domains and three mannose binding sites. The sequence comparison and three-dimensional structures showed Pinellia agglutinin genes had high similarity to each other. It has many important biological functions, such as anti-insect,anti-fungi,antineoplastic and haemagglutinins activities. In this paper,we provide an overview on Pinellia agglutinins with their purification, molecular structure, phylogenenic evolution, tissue expression and biological function. In addition, this review may ultimately help biologists to exploit Pinellia agglutinins in the future.

Key words: Pinellia Agglutinin, purification, molecular structure, phylogenenic evolution, tissue expression, biological function
