Effect of 25 Odors Coral Pills on Pyramidal Cell and the Expression of NSE in Hippocampus of D-galactose Induced Brain Aging Rats

Abstract: The D-galactose induced brain aging model was used to study the effect of 25 odors coral pills on hippocampus.The morphology of pyramidal cells and the expression of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in hippocampus were determined in each experimental group.Hippocampal neuronal degeneration on CA1,CA3,DG region was observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining.The expression of NSE was explored by immunohistochemistry,Western blotting and densitometric analysis.The results showed that the degeneration of hippocampal pyramidal cells in 25 odors coral pills group was significantly improved,and the number of cells positive for NSE and the expression of NSE in the hippocampus were significantly reduced.These results indicated that 25 odors coral pills can inhibit hippocampal neuronal degeneration and the expression of NSE protein in the D-galactose induced brain aging rats.
