Abstract: The aims of this study was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of Lonicera macranthoides leaves(LML) on blood biochemical indexes, liver fatty acid composition and the expression of fat metabolism-related genes in finishing pigs.A total of 160 crossbred barrows (Large White × Landrace) with an average initial BW of 55±1.03 kg were randomly allocated to 2 treatment groups (each treatment was replicated eight times with ten pigs each) and fed either a basal diet or a diet supplemented with 1.0% LML powder. The experiment lasted for 60 days. The results were showed as follows:1) Compared with the control group, dietary supplementation of LML powder significantly decreased the serum total cholesterol (TC) content (P<0.05) and increased the c-reaction protein (CRP) content (P<0.05);2) Compared with the control group, dietary supplementation of LML powder significantly decreased the liver content of SFA c13:0 and MUFA of c14:1 (P< 0.05);3) Compared with the control group, the mRNA expression levels of Adipose trigtyceride lipase (ATGL) and Carnitine acyl transferase-1 (CPT1A) genes in the dietary supplementation of LML powder were significantly up-regulated (P<0.05);while the mRNA expression levels of Lipogenic enzymes (FAS) genes were significantly down-regulated (P<0.10).In conclusion, dietary supplementation of LML powder can effectively reduce the content of serum total triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) in finishing pigs and these effects may be associated with the expression of fat metabolism-related genes, thus regulating the liver fat metabolism.
