Abstract: To study the antioxidant activity and the active ingredients of endophytic fungal Fusarium sp. A14 isolated form Fritillaria unibracteata Hsiao et KC Hsia(FUB),the petroleum ether(30-60 ℃),ethyl acetate,dichloromethane,n-butyl alcohol and ethanol were used to extract the metabolic products of Fusarium sp. A14.Then,the antioxidant activities of the five fractions were evaluated using DPPH· scavenging assay,ABTS+· scavenging assay and ferric reducingantioxidant power(FRAP) assay. The total polyphenols content(TPC) and total flavonoids content(TFC) of the five fractions were evaluated using folin-reagent method and NaNO2-Al(NO3)3-NaOH colorimetric method, respectively. The antioxidant constituents were analyzed further by TLC-bioautography and highperformance liquid chromatography(HPLC) methods. The results of antioxidant assay,TPC and TFC indicated that the last four fractions had strong antioxidant activities, which possessed positive correlations with the TPC and TFC to some degrees. The TLC-bioautography results exhibited that there were abundant diverse chemical components with antioxidant activity. In addition,HPLC analysis result illustrated that there were multiple phenolic acids in the ethyl acetate and dichloromethane fractions, such as catechin, caffeic acid, luteolin and ferulic acid. Therefore, the present study demonstrated that the fungal endophytic Fritillaria sp.A14 from FUB had the potential production of partial known and unknown antioxidants and which could be applied in the health and medical profession. This study will contribute to the development and utilization of natural product from Fritillaria sp. A14.
