Research Advance on Nutritional Value and Funtional Activities of Moringa oleifera

Abstract: Moringa oleifera,a genus in the family of Moringa oleifera,was native to tropical and subtropical plants.It was well known for the contents of various nutrients and phytochemicals,polyphenols and saponins are the main constituents,with the biological activities of lowering blood sugar,lowering blood lipids and anti-cancer,etc.In recent years,with the further of foreign researchs on this plant,Moringa is gradually well known to people.Furthermore,No.19 of 2012 document of National Health and Family Planning Commission of China had announced Moringa leaf as a new raw material of food.The purpose of this review is to summarize the nutritional value and biological activities of Moringa,which may provide a reference for the application and further functional study of Moringa in health food.
