Abstract:

Phytophthora capsici is a highly destructive pathogen of vegetable crops. It causes plant′s phytophthora disease and has led to huge economic losses to agricultural production.Microbial secondary metabolites play an important role in controlling the P. capsici and other plant pathogens by disrupting cell membrane permeability, interfering with protein synthesis and inducing plant resistance. Some secondary metabolites of microbial origin, such as phenazine-1-carboxylic acid,is the main components of shenqinmycin,a green fungicide independently developed in China, which has good control effects on many plant diseases including pepper phytophthora blight. Therefore, the application of microbial secondary metabolites is an effective means to control plant diseases in biological control and an effective strategy to achieve green agricultural development.Based on microbial types (bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi),this paper reviewed the sources, antibacterial effects and antibacterial mechanisms of 94 microbial secondary metabolites with antimicrobial activity against P. capsici for the last 20 years,in order to provide a reference for the research and development of microbial secondary metabolites against P. capsici.
