Abstract: The content of benzyl glucosinolate(BG) from the seeds of Carica papaya L.was determined by HPLC.On the basis of the results of single factor tests, response surface methodology was adopted to investigate the effects of ethanol concentration,solid-liquid ratio, extraction duration and extraction temperature on the extraction yield of BG.The results were analyzed by Design Expert 8.0.6 software. The optimal extraction conditions of BG were as follows:ethanol concentration of 73%,solid-liquid ratio of 1:13 g/mL,extraction duration of 70 min, extraction temperature of 83 ℃,for 3 times.Under these conditions, the content of BG reached 1.675%,which had small difference from the theoretical optimal value. The result proved that the optimized extraction technology was stable and reliable. It provided a reference for the development and utilization on the resources of C.papaya.
