Abstract: To explore the acute toxicity of aloperine in mice and to determine the median lethal dose (LD₅₀)and the potential target organs.The mice were intraperitoneally administered with aloperine at the concentrations of 600.00,480.00,384.00,307.20,245.76 mg/kg and observed for toxic manifestations,respectively.LD₅₀ was determined by Bliss method.The survived mice were observed for toxic manifestations for 7 d.The main organs of dead mice (heart,liver,spleen,lung and kidney) were dissected immediately for pathological observation.The LD₅₀ value of aloperine in mice was 395.62 mg/kg (95% confidence interval 305.23 ~ 535.04 mg/kg) with theLD₅₀ value of 143.00 mg/kg and LD₉₅ valueof 1094.47 mg/kg.Liver might be the target organ which was heavily damaged.The work provides experimental basis for further research.
