Abstract: The contents of heavy metals (Cu,Pb,Cd,Hg and As) in Angelica pubescens Maxim.f.Biserrata Shan et Yuan and soil from Chongqing were measured and studied. The results showed that Cd content in soil was exceeded the standard of Environmental quality standard for soils(GB15618-1995)  and that in Angelicaepubescentis radix was exceeded the standard of Green standards of medicinal plants and preparations for foreign trade and economy(WM/T22004). The distribution was different among organs, the content of Pb and Cd showed the orders of root>stem>leaf, that of Cu was stem>root>leaf, that of Hg was stem>leaf>root, and that of As was leaf>root>stem. The enrichment capability of Cd was the best in root and stem, and the bioconcentration factors of Cd were both higher than 1,and the bioconcentration factors of other elements were lower than 1.The correlation analysis showed that there was extremely significant correlation between the Cu content in soil and that in stem and leaf, there was significant negative correlation between the Cu content in stem and in leaf, there was significant positive correlation between the Hg content in stem and in root.
