Protective Effect of Polysaccharides from Angelica and Astragalus-2A on Kidney of Type 2 Diabetic Rats

Abstract: The protective effect of polysaccharides from Angelica and Astragalus-2A (AAP-2A) on renal tissue of type 2 diabetic rats was studied.The type 2 diabetic model rats were induced by high-glucose fat diet and low-dose STZ treatment (35 mg/kg).The blood glucose,blood fat,insulin,oxidation stress and inflammatory factors in diabetic rats were determined after intragastric administration with different doses of AAP-2A (1 g/kg/d and 0.5 g/kg/d) for 42 d continuously.The results showed that AAP-2A significantly decreased the levels of FBG,TC,TG,BUN and SCr in serum.Meanwhile,it was found that AAP-2A increased insulin sensitivity index (ISI),enhanced SOD and GSH-PX activity,reduced the contents of MDA,NF-κB and ICAM-1 of kindey.These results suggested that AAP-2A can effectively reduce the blood sugar level in type 2 diabetic rats,correct the disorder lipid metabolism,enhance antioxidant capacity,lower the content of inflammatory cytokines in the kidney.Hence,AAP-2A might play a certain renal protective effect.
