Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the chemical constituents of the leaves of Camellia japonica. The compounds were isolated and purified by extensive means of chromatographic separation techniques, and their structures were elucidated by their physiochemical properties,NMR and MS spectroscopic data,as well as comparison with literature data.Ten compounds, including kaempferol (1),quercetin (2),quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucoside (3),rutin (4),saluenin (5),quercetin 3-O-(6″-O-Galloyl)-β-galactoside (6),honokiol (7),magnolol (8),dihydrosyringenin (9),loliolide (10),were isolated from the leaves of Camellia japonica. Among them, compound 5 were obtained from C. japonica for the first time.Compounds 6-10 were isolated from the genus of Camellia for the first time;Compounds 9 and 10 have good antioxidant activity.

Key words: Camellia japonica, chemical constituents, flavonoids, phenyl propanoids, monoterpene, anti-oxidation
