Abstract:

β-Elemene was found in the metabolites of endophytic fungi, Penicillium frequentans (EF03) and P. baarnense (EF11), which isolated from Curcuma zedoaria. In the microecosystem of Curcuma zedoaria, gene horizontal transmission may take place due to interaction of endophytic fungi and the plant for a long time. So endophytic fungi gave rise to the same secondary metabolites as their host.

Key words: endophytic fungi of Curcuma zedoaria, secondary metabolite, β-elemene
