Abstract: Two Liposoluble constituents (extract A and extract B) from leaves and stems of Drypetes cumingii, isolated by solvent extraction method and silica column chromatography, were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). 16 compounds were identified from the extract A,the major constituents were squalene (72.51%),tricosane (3.08%),tetracosane(2.06%); 16 compounds were identified from the extract B,the major constituents were squalene (47.82%), hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester (11.69%),octadecanoic acid, ethyl ester(5.43%),ethyl tetracosanoate(3.17%),hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester(3.14%).This is the first report regarding the lipophilic chemical constituents of D.cumingii. The results showed that D.cumingii contained abundant active compound:squalene.
