Abstract: In this study, the chemical consituents of volatile oil of Ligustrum quihoui fruits were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for the first time and the antioxidant activity of 25% volatile oil was investigated by evaluating its scavenging capacity against ABTS·and sodium nitrite.Sixty-seven compounds, which occupied 76.50% of total constituents, were tentatively identified. The major constituents of the volatile oil were germacrene D (8.57%),cis-2-trans-6-farnesol (6.38%), α-cubebene (5.24%), hex-2-enal (3.80%), linalool (3.78%), α-muurolene (3.70%).The volatile oil exhibited significant scavenging capacities against ABTS·and sodium nitrite in a concentration-dependent manner.
