Abstract: Oxytropis falcate Bunge (O.falcata) is a traditional Tibetan medicine of China.Since its various bioactivity is based on the presence of flavonoids,we extracted the total flavonoid aglycones (TFA) of O.falcata and investigated its antibacterial activity in view of 9 kinds of pathogenic bacteria. The results showed that the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of TFA against Staphylococcus aureus was 0.38 mg/mL,which was the lowest.Against the other tested bacteria, the MIC and MBC values were between 0.75 and 3 mg/mL.This study provided evidence of the antibacterial activity of TFA and lay foundation for the further research of the flavonoids in O.falcata.
