Abstract: The anti-bacterial effects of crude extracts of flower of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat (CMR) on common human intestinal bacteria were investigated in this study.Anti-bacterial activities of ultrasonic extracts of CMR flower were tested by agar diffusion method, and minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were determined by multi-proportion dilution method. The results showed that both aqueous extract and alcohol extract showed high inhibitory effect on 7 common human intestinal bacteria, especially on Proteus vulgaris, Shigella dysenteriae and Salmonella typhi. The anti-bacterial effects of aqueous and alcohol extracts with higher concentration were significantly obvious (P<0.01) than that of lower concentration, and aqueous extract showed prominent (P<0.01) anti-bacterial effects than alcohol extract at the same concentration.Furthermore, the MIC of aqueous extract lower than that of alcohol extract for the same bacterium.
