Abstract: The chemical constitutes of the EtOH extract of Woodwardia japonica from Jiangxi Province were studied.Seven compounds were isolated by repeated gel column chromatography. On the basis of spectral data, their structures were identified as 3-O-[6’-O-(9-Z-eicosenoicenoyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-sitosterol (1),β-sitosterol-3-o-α-L-(6’-O-hexadecanoyl) glucoside (2), β-sitosterol (3),woodwardinic acid (4),daucosterol (5),kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (6) and kaempferol-3-O-α-L-(4-O-acetyl)-rhamnopyranoside7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (7).Compound 1 was a new compound and compound 4 showed acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity.
