Protective Effects of Chinese Herbal Formula on Mice challenged with E.coli

Abstract: The present study was conducted to observe the protective effects of Chinese herbal formula (including Fructus Crataegi,Fructus Forsythiae,Flos Lonicerae, and Fructus Schisandrae;1:1:1:1) in mice challenged with E.coli in order to provide a basis for their application in the prevention and treatment of colibacillosis.Colibacillosis model in mice was established by intraperitoneal injection of E.coli, and then,the preventive effects of Chinese herbal formula on colibacillosis in mice were studied using histological methods.The Chinese herbal formula had no significant effects on growth performance (P>0.05),while decreased the death number,increased survival rates,and relieved the lesion of jejunal and ileal villus in mice with colibacillosis (P<0.05).These findings indicated that the Chinese herbal formula presented obvious protective effects on colibacillosis in mice.
