Abstract: In this study, the anti-aging effect of MSMI (melanin from Sepiella maindroni ink) on mimetic aging mice induced by D-galactose was investigated.ICR mice was selected as animal model, which were randomly divided into six groups, including control group,D-galactose group, positive control group (Vc group),MSMI treated groups of low [25 mg/(kg·d)],medium [120 mg/(kg·d)] and high [200 mg/(kg·d)] dosage.Except control group, all the other groups were treated with 120 mg/(kg·d) D-galactose by subcutaneous injection. After a trial period of 45 days, the content of MDA (malondialdehyde) and the activities of CAT (catalase),SOD (superoxide dismutase) and GSH-Px (glutathione peroxidase) in serum, liver, brain and heart were measured.Besides, the liver and thymus index were measured. The results showed that compared with D-galactose group,MSMI can significantly decrease the contents of MDA and enhance the activities of CAT,SOD,GSH-Px in serum, liver, brain and heart of mice.Hence,it was concluded that MSMI can attenuate the increased oxidative damages in D-galactoseinduced senescent mice and delay aging.
